What a beautiful piece of work. How many frames were involved in creating this, Ian? I would have this framed and hanging on my wall if I’d produced it.
Best wishes, Jeff.

Thanks Jeff. It was 60 x 120 sec exposures stacked in DSS with darks and flats added.

Wow, that's a reflector? I was assuming it was a 6" refractor
You must have got the collimation spot on. And good polar alignment? Or are you guiding? Remember when people used to sit with their eyes glued to a guidescope!

I am using a Polemaster for alignment which is pretty good but I do guide with Phd2 for extra control. Thanks for all the comments, first time I had attempted this object, processing the image with Alnitak in the fov was a real test with the combination of a bright star and faint nebulosity.

Indeedy! NGC404 (Mirach's Ghost) presents similar problems, though 404 isn't really that photogenic. Ditto Regulus and the Leo Dwarf Galaxy. A challenge for the spring there!Ian Papworth wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 7:16 pm a real test with the combination of a bright star and faint nebulosity.
