Bought this morning for a fiver on a flea-market. A solidly built glass from the 1970s and well used, but without incurring damage on the metal body, leatherette covering and, most of all, the optics, which are very clean and scratch-free outside and inside.
The evidence for much use is in the paintwork around the rims of the objective cells. Much of the paint has gone to reveal the shiny aluminium underneath. The previous owner, possibly and ardent bird-watcher, must have held them in that position regularly. An artist's brush and a little silk black enamel paint will soon redeem them to looking like their original condition.
The original tan leatherette case came with the bins, too.
At X20 the binoculars make a suitable candidate for the shake-free binocular mirror-mount.

The bins were made in Japan David. I tried them out last night on a star and then the full moon. They're good, but with virtually no eye-relief, so we have to get our eyeballs up close and personal.

Re: L&G Telstar 20X50 binoculars
Mmmm - I find nowadays that if I don't use my glasses, the prescription difference in my unaided eyesight means that I just run out of adjustment on the right (adjustable focus) eyepiece before I can match focus with the left ocular. Anyone else have that annoying situation? I tried binocular observing with contact lenses once upon a time and it was hopeless. Bob

Re: L&G Telstar 20X50 binoculars
My vision's worse. Without specs, I have considerable double-vision, due to a lens muscle having relaxed in the right eye.
When using binoculars with short eye-relief, I have to mount two filed down specs lenses over the eye-lenses on the bins. Otherwise, if I try viewing with specs on, I can't get near enough to the eye-lenses to get the full field-of-view.
I now have three pairs of binoculars with specs lenses embedded in their eyecups: 10X50's, 20X50's and 20X60's.
