How to image without headaches?

Post by sylvestrerato »

With the current astronomy gear is it possible to image deep sky objects/planets without dark, bias, flat field frames, without polar alignment, with good results?

I tried shooting images a few years ago but I thought it was too complex and frustrating. I wondered if it can be done easily now?

Thank you. Cheers

Maybe with Sony A7S and A7S II or Nikon 500?, the one going to 1.6million ISO. The big brother goes to 3.2million ISO.

I get mag 8 stars in about 1/20 or 1/15 second at 50,000 ISO or 100,000 ISO with Samyang 85mm f/1.4 at full aperture. Single frame. Maybe mag 7 in corners full frame. Good star images, but for longer exposures you probably have to use f/2.8.
In town I cannot expose longer without fog. Mag 3 stars unaided eyes.
