Bradford, Keighley and Leeds Astronomical Societies, the RSPB and the National Trust

Are Hosting an Astrofestival at East Riddlesden Hall (near Keighley) on Sunday 19th October 2014.

The Astrofestival launches at 12.30pm

Weather permitting, there will be Solar Observing during the afternoon, followed by an evening Sky Observing session.

East Riddlesden Hall is a 17th Century National Trust Manor House with picturesque gardens (see website link below). The event will take place in a converted and modernised tithe barn with underfloor heating.

Admission to the Barn is free until 5pm, after that there is a charge of £4, which includes the evening talks. Children under 16 are free all the time.

Speakers are:-

Paul Money (FRAS, Sky at Night Review Editor, broadcaster and writer)

Rod Hine (MA Cantab, Bradford University, Bradford Astronomical Society)

Paul Neaves (BA, Keighley Astronomical Society)

Julian Onions (FRAS)

Trade Support from Green Witch and Rentascope

Activities are free, except for those marked * :-

Solar Observing

Night-time Observing

Junior Foot Pump Rocket Competition

RSPB walk on the wild side! (Guided nature tour)

Children’s activities (including Spiral Galaxy Maze)

Pony Club and Scout Astronomy Achievement Badges – introductory talk.

*Face Painting

*Hot and cold refreshments – including licensed bar
