Solar observing at Great Notley, Essex - 23 June 2012

North Essex Astronomical Society Public Solar Observing

After May's wonderfully clear stargazing night, North Essex Astronomical Society will be hosting the next in our series of public observing events at Great Notley Country Park, near Braintree, on Saturday 23 June.

As we are now into the summer months, we concentrate solely on solar observing, and perhaps the Moon if it's visible. From midday we will have a range of telescopes set up to observe the Sun in both white light and hydrogen alpha, and welcome anybody to come and take a look at our nearest star, or talk to us about telescopes or astronomy in general.

Observing is weather-dependent, and will continue throughout the afternoon until around 4pm. We will be on hand to answer questions even if it's cloudy. In the event of rain, the session will be cancelled.

For more info, please look at our website: under the Stargazing tab.

Observing is free, although a car park charge applies for the park.
