Post by nightcal »

To support the forthcoming Stargazing LIVE programmes on BBC Two, Worcester Astronomical Society are running FREE events at Worcester Countryside Centre to help you get the most out of a telescope.

Wednesday 5th Jan - ‘Finding your way around the Night Sky’
Learn out how to find objects in the night sky. We will also be observing the Quadrantids meteor shower.

Thursday 6th Jan - ‘Finding your way around the Night Sky’
Learn how to find objects in the night sky. There will also be a demonstration of imaging Jupiter with a simple webcam.

Friday 7th Jan - ‘Telescope Workshop for New and Lapsed Observers’
Bring along your new or under-used telescope and we’ll show you how to set it up and use it.

All events start at 7.30 pm, but you can pop in at any time during the evening to look through a telescope at Jupiter and other wonders of the night sky.

Have always been interested in astronomy and would have definitely made use of the opportunity that the Worcester Astronomical Society had arranged if only I had known about it sooner!! It must have really helped us to better under the Stargazing Live Program in BBC which I found very interesting!!
