Abernethy Star Party

Post by gary1968 »

Just a quick note to let all know that CSOG (Central Scotland Observers Group) will be holding a Star Party this Saturday, 31/10/09, in Abernethy (Perthshire). Sat nav users enter PH2 9JS to get there. Map readers use the following...................

If you are depending on maps heading north from Edinburgh - Take Bridge of Earn sliproad (around ten minutes after Kinross) and turn right at end of slip, signposted from there.
Coming from Glasgow/Stirling - Head for Perth until you hit Broxden Roundabout, Turn RIGHT 3rd exit and follow signs for Edinburgh (NOT DUNDEE), about 3 miles after Broxden, take Newburgh Slip Road, turn left and follow Star Party signs after there.

This is a public outreach event as part of IYA2009, all are welcome.
At present we have around 15 CSOG members bringing scopes etc for folks to have a look at the heavens. There will be a couple of small talks by CSOG members and also a wee competition for the public to test their astro knowledge, I believe there are some prizes for this.

Anyway, as said, all are welcome and heres hoping for a clear night..
