HEQ5 duel axis drives

Hi Guys, I have recently upgraded my HEQ5 mount to a goto system, and am left with drive motors, gears, circiut board, and hand controler, which I no longer need, if anybody needs spares ????

Do you know if these are the same motors as the ones you get for the eq3-2 mount ? I have these but have broken the 2 motors and am either looking to replace the motors but may upgrade to a goto system.

Hi David, I'm not sure weather the motors are the same, but I will try to find out, o.k after ringing around, the answer is no, HEQ5 motors wont fit an EQ3/2 mount.

John,
I am thinking of upgrading my HEQ5. How easy was the mod?
I see the kit for around 300 quid... Very tempting, but I'm afraid of knackering my mount

Is it worth it? Is it easy?

Hi Daz,
the mod for the HEQ5, is easy, you get a sheet with instructions, just follow them, took me about an hour, doing it caerefully, you will need to get a power supply, as that does not come with the kit, but yes it is well worth it, from what I see from astronomy supplyers is that the HEQ5 is no longer avaliable, so the old motors, gears and board, are surplus.
