Post subject:  Kepler: lost then found

Astronomers have re-established contact with the Kepler exoplanet-seeking space telescope. Kepler has discovered thousands of exoplanets since it was launched, but went into emergency mode last Thursday. On Sunday Nasa engineers at ground control managed to stabilise the craft. They still don't know what went wrong and will look for clues in the data.
The problem occured when Kepler was pointed towards the centre of the Milky Way for a new type of planet hunting programme:
"It was the quick response and determination of the engineers throughout the weekend that led to the recovery," said Charlie Sobeck the mission manager in a Nasa web posting.
"We are deeply appreciative of their efforts, and for the outpouring of support from the mission's fans and followers around the world."
