Post subject:  Stratified rock on Comet 67P

In the current issue of NEW SCIENTIST ( p.10 ), there's an image of the comet apparently showing rock strata.
On the earth, stratification occurs through a variety of processes, including: wind, water and successive lava outpourings.
Can anyone suggest why a comet should have stratified rocks, other than that it originated from a much larger body with a different astro-geological history?

Could it be stratified ice deposits?
