And now a tragedy for the SpaceShipTwo project with the loss of a test pilot.

I gather that a new type of fuel was being used which sounds like (I'm guessing) an explosion within the fuel system. No need to reiterate that space flight is dangerous but hopefully the show will go on even if delayed by a couple of years.

Aviation was dangerous in the early years but tremendous progress has been made since; I trust space flight will follow a parallel.

Branson's flying circus for millionaires ( £150,000 per ticket ) is unlikely to achieve much in terms of scientific advancement.
Government space agencies with their much bigger funding are able to achieve more meaningful goals.

Branson knows what he's doing.

'Space tourism' will eventually lead the way to sub-orbital airline flights bringing the other side of the world within a couple of hours travel.

Best Wishes,

Geoff
