Dear All,

NASA have just launched the LADEE lunar exosphere probe,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23939448

The mission will study the Moon's extremely tenuous atmosphere (exosphere) and attempt to explain the cause of levitating dust, otherwise known as Transient Lunar Phenomena.

Strange glows and mists have been reported on the lunar surface for about as long as astronomers have been observing with telescopes. Several years ago, I made an observation of a TLP in Copernicus and reported it on this forum and in the Luna journal.

Perhaps now LADEE will finally provide a definitive answer!

Best Wishes,

Geoff
