Four Candidate Projects Selected for ESA's Cosmic Vision

Post by david entwistle »

ESA has announced the four preferred candidates for the next medium-class scientific mission. See here for details.
Looking ahead to the next decade of scientific exploration, ESA has today (25 February) selected four candidates for a medium-class mission that will launch in the period 2020-22. The candidates cover very different areas of scientific research, ranging from investigations of black holes and general relativity to near-Earth asteroid sample return and studies of planets orbiting distant stars.

There's more on this story here, from the BBC's Science Correspondent.
The European Space Agency (Esa) has selected four new mission concepts to compete for a launch opportunity at the start of the 2020s.

The mission ideas cover a broad range of disciplines, from investigations of black holes and general relativity to a near-Earth asteroid sample-return and studies of planets orbiting far-away stars.
