Did anybody else watch the discovery landing?
I watched it live from my class. Was pretty awesome, was my first live landing. The commentator said that the shuttle was going at a speed of like 3200Mph.
And the landing speed was like 200mph yet the parachute slowwed it right down. Now i`m thinking that`s one big *** parachute
Hi Carl,
I watch as many launches and landings as possible. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/index.html
Can remember the first Shuttle landding in the 80's when it was "shephered" in by two US planes..they were tiny compared to the Shuttle..an amazing spacecraft.
All the best.
Dave
Edit. Don't know if my first link worked..here's another. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html

Hi,
Yes Brian, the X15 played a major part in US. spacecraft design.
I think (I stand corrected here) it holds the world record for the fastest manned rocket powered aircraft.
Many of its test pilots were to fly in space (although the pilots were already classed as astronauts as the X15 flew to the edge of space).
Neil Armstrong being one of them.
All the best.
