I imagine that perhaps it should've said £49.99 or something similar?!
While on the subject of buying binoculars ...Although I have said recently that I would not buy any more (costly) new instruments, I just could not resist a used Bresser 10x50 porro-prism binocular from the local cash converters type shop for the princely some of £29.99.
Now that was a good price and they are not bad either!
Regards maf

Well, I bought my Meade 10x50 from Lidl for £15 a few years back. On further inspection they are actually 10x42, having an aperture restriction a few cm in from the OGs

Ok for the price though. I've now moved on to Pentax 10x50WP. much superior to the Meades,

Mike, I presume these binocs were below the "I have to tell the wife" price threshold then. Bob

Some of these on-line sites show very high prices for items - I think it may be some sort of automatic pricing mechanism dependant on supply & demand.

There was a case some time ago on two of the on-line second hand book sites where a book reached a silly price as the two sites were in a loop - if you had ordered it from one they would have brought it from the other and added their profit margin. The price escalated every time it went round the loop. I think it got up to the upet 10's of thousands of pounds.

From what I remember the book did not exist so even if you tried to buy it it would not have been delivered ! I think they cured that loop after that.
