Hi,
Just a reminder to anyone listening in to the ISS. Todays 13.13UT pass (Tues 6th, very high for me but overhead for southern England) will be well worth listening out for. ESA astronaut Andre Kuipers will be making a school contact (Netherlands) from 13.11UT. Could be quite a long contact (hopefully).
All the best
Dave

2012 Mar 06. 13.15 to 13.19 1/2 UT APPROX.
Heard strong voice communications in Dutch on 145.800 Yupi 7100 Watson W 889 telescopic.
There was quite a lot of background interference.
Only understood a little about distances, maybe 8, 80 or 800 kms above something.
Anyway I heard something.
Timings not very accurate as I did not check my watch against good time.
Regards, David

Yes I have been a radio ham for many years, and I spoke to a lady on Mia called Helen Sharman when Mia was going over my house, it was great, I used an FT736 (still have it in my shack) and the power needed to talk to her being in the sky was just 10 watts.
Great fun if your a radio ham too.

Hi,
You heard more than me David, I heard nothing at all. Wasn't expecting too much though but the one on the 21st is at an higher alt so should be better.
Why not have a go contacting the ISS yourself, the uplink freq. is 145.200.
All the best
Dave

I don't have the equipment (or licence) for transmitting, I'm just a 'listener' DavidDavid Webb wrote:Yes I have been a radio ham for many years, and I spoke to a lady on Mia called Helen Sharman when Mia was going over my house, it was great, I used an FT736 (still have it in my shack) and the power needed to talk to her being in the sky was just 10 watts.

Hi,
Heard voice comms (English) this mornng (Wed 21st) from 08.38 to 08.44UT.
Andres Kuipers (ESA astronaut) was very clear. Will keep the scanner running throughout the day as there is sometimes more activity after a school contact.
All the best
