Russia's orbiting radio telescope is continuing to transmit signals but the operators have lost control of it since on Friday.
An adviser to the Roscosmos space agency, Alexander Bloshenko, said that attempts to regain contact had failed. The head of research for the Spektr-R project, Yuri Kovalev, said contact went down on Friday morning, but, "There is still hope," he added.
Spektr-R was launched in 2011. Its purpose is to study radio sources inside and external to our galaxy.
