Hi. I was thinking it might be worth setting up a feature whereby new members can introduce themselves. It's something I've come across on other forums, and one which seems to work quite well. A new membrr can say hello, perhaps get a few welcoming comments in response, and thereby gain a positive impression of the group (making them more likely to become active participants later).

Of course, to get the ball rolling, there would be nothing wrong with members of longer standing joining in with some friendly words to introduce themselves and to say a little about their astro interests.

As I say, just a suggestion..,

Hi Alan and Welcome! :D

Yes, most forums do have Introduction Sections, which are often well-used. To the best of my knowledge the SPA forum has never had this option. It would be up to Admin to decide and make any changes to this.

I wonder what other Forum users think of having an introduction section?

I avoid this like the plague on American sites because it becomes a forum for "My scope is bigger than your scope" and Celestron is better than Skywatcher

Also some are shy, or don't want to, but I am happy to say hello.

JR, what I have is listed below, I was a long time friend of Patrick Moore and took him to Astrofest and Autographica.

Been into Astronomy since I was 12 and wrote to Patrick not to receive a reply, wrote to him when I was 50 telling him so and one day when I was cleaning the house after taking sons to school (single Dad) I got a call, "Hello, Patrick Moore here", I could have fainted, not Man like, friends ever since.

Just re bought my FIRST ever scope and First ever 2nd and then best scope see images, Prinz 500R, 1970s, (R for Reflecting) ... ater&ifg=1

For info, I am Autistic, Aspergers, ADHD, therefore if I come over as a little "short" on occasions it is not intended, thank you
