Solar shots - 9 April

Post by smerral »

From this morning's solar session. (9/4/2019, 10:00 UT) The CaK was captured with the Lunt B600 diagonal and the Altair Astro 102 ED-R with a 1.5x barlow for the close up. The full disc is a mosaic of 15 panes. The Ha surface image was captured with the above scope and the Quark chromosphere with a 0.5x reducer. Camera was the DMK 31. The proms were captured with the PST.

Dear al(L)
I've just seen BrianS's superb detailed Solar images.
I now submit my own Sun pics taken this afternoon (9th April) with rather less sophisticated equipment, through our west facing back bedroom window double glazing (but comfortable location). Incidentally a friend, who observed the Sunspot visually today & yesterday, suggests the biggish Sunspot might be an indication of the start of a new Solar Cycle (???).
Best wishes from Cliff

Thanks for the comments! Great images Cliff! I think we may have passed solar minimum now. I certainly hope we will see increasing activity in the future. :D
