M81 with the Altair GPcam V2 Mono

Post by smerral »

M81 imaged last night with the Altair GPcam V2 mono. Scope was the Celestron C8 using a combination of 0.63 and 0.5 reducers. There is a little star distortion with this set up but it's manageable. 8x300 secs + 1x600sec subs. Colour was layered in from my previous image using the GPcam colour. Great cams for the price! Very pleased with them, especially the V2. :))

Nice start but needs to be sharper with more detail
Celestron 8" Edge HD Evolution, Esprit 120mm triplet, 72mm APO, Sky Tee 2, 6" reflecting scope, William Optics Binoviewer, Quark Daystar Ha Chromosphere on 72mm ED, LVW8mm eyepiece and Celestron 19mm Axiom, matched W.O 10 and 20mm, and a few others, D4s, D810,

For info, I am Autistic, Aspergers, ADHD, therefore if I come over as a little "short" on occasions it is not intended, thank you

Brian, yep! :D I was actually quite pleased with the results on this one. I had a shot at M51, the Crab and NGC2022 in Orion but all were spoilt by cloud. Transparency wasn't at its best. Also, more subs would improve it. I know some people spend hours and hours with high end cameras on a single object. For me, that kind of thing is OK if you're in, say, Australia and have clarity night after night. But here clear nights are few and far between sometimes. I prefer to grab a few exposures of different objects whenever possible. Last night I really wanted to try the new cam.
