m27 from midcalder

Here is my attempt from 28/09/11. Although it was a clear night it was very warm so there was a bit of high level haze. I didn't get as many subs or darks as I would have liked so the image is not a smooth as it could have been.
It is my first DSO of the new season and am pretty happy with it.
Image details, 24x5min subs + 12x5min darks, 8" F4 Newt, HEQ5 Pro, Guided with ZS66 and Meade DSI Pro.

Thanks folks, the collimation was out a bit on the scope I have discovered. It is adjusted now, if only the clouds would do the right thing.

That's really nice Gary. I love the way the 'dumbbell' appears to be floating above that bright star at the bottom of the picture.
The saturation and colour balance are just spot-on, in my opinion. 5 minute subs too - you must have pretty good skies to go that long.
An excellent start to your new season.

Thanks for the kind words David. The sky around here is not great, light polluted Livingston!
The Astronomik CLS filter does a good job of filtering out the LP.
Last winter I was doing 10min subs on some objects......

I would be more than happy with that shot. It has almost a 3D appearance. Beautiful colours and crisp stars. It's great.

You took it on the Meade DSI ? whats it like compared to a standard webcam ?

Just re-read my 1st post, a bit misleading I think.... sorry. The image was taken with a canon 1000d, the rig was guided with the Meade DSI.
