The Egg and Spoon Nebula...

Despite a bright waxing gibbous moon and a drenching dew, I managed to image an area on the Cepheus/Cassiopeia border last night and catch some of the threads of light and dark nebulosity that pervade this patch of sky.

The nomenclature of this HII region left me a little confused, hence my own name for it. If you view the image upside down, you might see where I'm coming from.

Hi, great photo. Was this taken with a 135mm lens? If so, was the lens used wide open or did you stop it down a little?

I loved the occultation of saturn (both start and end)
last time i saw that happen i only drew it down,but those pics brought it all back

Paul: I stop the lens down by one click, from f3.5 to about f4. It does seem to sharpen up star images at the edge of the field and reduce vignetting, although the camera chip is of course far from full frame.
