Hi

Can someone help.

I am looking to buy a DSI Pro camera, I have been told that the
camera is quite memory hungry. So what sort of spec laptop
should I be looking for. Just some figures to get me in the right ball park
would be of help.

Many thanks for the link.

To complicate things further, I see that you can now
buy in the UK (£360) the new cooled colour CCD camera
from Orion.

Yes, it looks vey interesting indeed. It claims to be a 16-bit camera, and if it does indeed save images at 3x16bits/frame then it must represent seriously good value at that price. I'm not sure about the "built-in" IR filter. If it isn't removable, then it could seriously interfere with "wideband" H-alpha imaging of gaseous nebulae.

Another camera which is producing excellent 16-bit images in amateur hands theses days is the Artemis range:
