More sightings of Uranus & Neptune

Post by michael feist »

27/09/21: Generally a very clear sky with passing cumulus cloud, then a rain shower and finally clouded out.
From the garden between 2320 & 2345 BST. Used 10x42 monocular as a guide, then used Ultima 65 zoom spotting scope for detailed view.
Uranus (obs.#. 1577) now definitely heading westwards having passed stationary point.
Neptune (obs.#/140) now just outside the 'lozenge' asterism, paired with the western star.
Rain stopped play thereafter.
Regards maf.

Uranus observation #1580: 30/09/21: 0255-0307 BST: Rather cold, very clear and no wind. Fat crescent Moon in same fov of 6x21 Pentax monocular as Castor + Pollux. Uranus and field stars clearly visible in this small instrument from the garden. And very high up. In fact Uranus is currently the ONLY planet ABOVE the Celestial Equator!! Regards maf.
