Tuesday. 22/1/19. Jupiter and Venus within binocular fov (half the fov of 10x50) with Jupiter below Venus. Following Venus in the daylight sky, given a clear sky and taking great care to hide the Sun for safety-sake, and with the instrument mounted on on a tripod, is generally easy BUT following Jupiter into daylight is not so simply as the disc of Jupiter is very much dimmer. Focusing on such a faint disc against a blue sky is not easily done. Using Venus as a guide, I was able to follow Jupiter too until 0930 UT and could possibly have continued longer but had to go out. By then Jupiter was a tiny very pale disc and could be easily lost without its Venusian (or is it Cytherian) Guide. Regards maf.

Very detailed observation, Mike. I haven't had chance to observe the pair this week, but I can imagine it was a gorgeous sight.

Best wishes, Jeff.
