Winter Solstice Sunrise + Sunset
If I can, I usually like to walk up to Foredown Ridge to see the various "Solstices" but the current Winter Solstice Sunrise was swathed in clouds. However, the Winter Solstice Sunset (which was actually nearer to the technical moment of the Solstice) was more or less visible. I walked up to Foredown Ridge and into a biting wind. The sky was rather murky and was scratched over by contrails, many which had spread out into wide patterns. As the Sun began to sink into horizon cloud, over Worthing, managed few colourful photographs, and was especially pleased to see one included a flying Herring Gull ( skywatching includes the birds!). Opposite, over Brighton, a very ghostly Full Moon could just be seen rising. By now rather chilly and so homeward bound. Regards maf.
