Before contacting this society (if they're still up and running);

Astronomy Centre near Burnley

I'd make sure you tell them you're more interested in ASTRONOMY. :wink:

The Astronomy Centre - near Todmorden

TAC is certainly still up and running. Facilities include x2 16" Meades, 12inch reflecting binoculars and an 8.5inch f12 refractor shortly to be mounted permanently outside, also a 30inch Dob which isn't currently in use. Peter Drew who runs it is also in the process of building a camera obscura - Peter is somewhat of an expert in these and has constructed them all over the world.
TAC is open every Saturday evenings and at other times for special events, just turn up.
If you want more details, send me a private email and I'll send you Peter's home contact details - the centres number is difficult to get if no-one is within earshot.
