It has recently been reported that the ALPHA MONOCEROTIDS 2019 may have an outburst at 04:50 UTC on the 22nd November 2019.

The dust trail that causes this shower is very narrow and it's position in uncertain as is the parent comet.

P. Jenniskens, SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center; and E. Lyytinen, Helsinki, Finland, have predicted (see CBET 4692 if you have access) that there could be an outburts at 04:50 UTC on 22 November 2019.

The previous outburst recorded was in 1995 when a ZHR or 400 meteors / hour was recorded for 1 minute at the peak. The shower is very narrow with a half maximum width of only 17 mins. so don't go out much before or after 04:50 and expect to see the outburst.

The radient will be high in the southern sky just to the left of Orion - details at https://theskylive.com/meteorshower-alphamonocerotids#skychart.

The moon is about 80 degrees away 25% illuminated. If the outburts happens and it is clear :o it should be a good oppertunity to get some images. If the outburts does not happen this year there is a possibility it may happen in 2020 when the Earth is in a slightly different position in relation to the dust stream.

Good Observing :)

I have also read they are fast & faint so dark sky will help a lot.
