Re: Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6 GoTo Mount "anyone any experience"

We share your pain Skyhawk. Even the cat's cheesed off with the rain. Sometimes after her outdoor forays, she looks like a drowned rat. It's a good time to maybe do some DIY and/or upgrading jobs on astro equipment. My cats love the rain and sit out in it, they were feral when young. Not me, my son...

Re: Meade Instruments Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Good, in a way, I have always complained that Meade, Skywatcher and a couple of others are guilty of price fixing. It is a fact, no outlet offers a different price to anorther you are stuck with the same price (99.9%) wherever you go. It was ME with my friend Patrick Moore who did the review of the ...

Cumbrian astronomer and author Stuart Atkinson in Kendal is urging people to go outside and appreciate the night sky because "soon it will be a motorway up there, and th...

Re: Well that has shaken me, SCT instead of Refractor

It's a belated reply Skyhawk, but the image is of low magnification ( 50X? ). If you'd used a higher magnification with the SCT and compared the result with a good refractor, the latter would probably have excelled due to the SCT's large central obstruction causing some image deterioration. I do ag...

Re: New UK dark sky region designated

I do wonder why governments are so opposed to doing anything about it, I wrote to Ceredigion Council about the effect that the ultra bright lights in our village have on my Autistic son and pollution, we have 1 car a night and no pedestrians but they refuse to turn any off.
