I too remember watching the BBC and like every one else not understanding the false colour images of Halley,
I also remember the 2nd flyby that Giotto did on "the other Comet" (I tried several times to spell it :oops: )

Giotto was indeed a European triumph,

The Meade may have too large an f no for deep sky imaging,my 125 is f15 too high for all but the bright Galaxy's, Visually my 125 is awesome,but looking through the eyepiece whilst tracking in the alt/az mode and its obvious there's 2 motors running to keep the star centred :? Ive not heard of anyone doing it without the AutoStar software,but it should be possible (I imagine), Ive not got round to trying the AutoStar on the lappy just yet,as Im still having fun with the scope by itself :D Have you seen http://www.weasner.com/etx/menu.html there maybe something there. Yep I saw that too,
It always makes me cringe that despite a large budget to make a film,they couldn't simply buy a space book for a little bit of research !
