I mean, of course, the naked eye. Lapse of concentration there!

Thanks,

Shooting stars/meteors?

Hi

I was just looking through my binoculars in the direction of Orion/Betelgeuse and I saw several moving stars. They were travelling across the sky but not visible with the naked eye. What could these have been?

Fascinating.

Thanks in advance.

Hi again There is a 3 week wait on the Horizon 8115 tripod and my new binoculars haven't arrived back yet. What would be a good beginner telescope for me if I don't get on with this new pair? One that would fit on this new tripod. It would be good to have a few different options so I can browse and ...

Thanks David.

Well, I have now ordered this tripod from Star Telescopes Shop (cheapest I could find). Have also ordered a spare quick release plate.

It seems to come highly recommended by Sky at Night magazine also.

Thanks,
Karen

Thanks David. You are the expert and so I am going to return the tripod I have and purchase the one you suggest.

Many thanks for your time and research. It is invaluable speaking to someone such as yourself on such a confusing subject.

Kind regards,
Karen

Judging By that description I would say I do have quick release plate. I think I should get a refund then on the tripod. The problem is I didn't want to spend too much and the tripod you suggest is more expensive than the binoculars. Thank you for all your help and time spent on this. Regards, Karen

Hi This is probably another dumb question but how do I know if the tripod has a quick release plate? I am not sure? It has a little springy lever which even my 4 year old son could pull to release the binoculars. It takes little effort to release them, so I am assuming so. I wish I had joined this f...

Just be careful with them (see my posts in the general chat forum). Mine accidentally fell off my tripod and they are now out of collimation. Seems that these bins are great but you have to treat them so carefully as they won't take any accidental knocks, etc. Just to warn you. :0(

Hi Thanks for the various replies. £50 is almost the cost of the binoculars. I didn't realise it would be so expensive. From now on, only I will be touching them! These are so fragile aren't they?! Anyway, I've told a little white lie and the retailer I purchased them from is exchanging them. So I'v...

Just looked at the moon through the binos and I am seeing double. Can only see single vision if I close my right eye. Does this mean the worst? How much does it cost to have a pair of binos collimated properly? I am wondering whether to get a refund on these and go for a telescope. Any thoughts? Tha...

...the planets to the left and right of the beautiful moon this evening?

Am I right in thinking Venus (left) and Jupiter (right)?

Many thanks,
