Re: ISS voice transmissions

Hello Dave, Great to hear you're still following the ISS too. The two voice bursts I got were intriguing. Quite a distinctive accent/tone of voice which I couldn't quite place (think it was male though) - shame I didn't get any words. Interesting to note I've often picked up voice before when the IS...

Hello David,

It's been a while! Hope you're well.

Trying to get myself back into the old scanning habit!

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Managed to catch two ISS passes with the scanner on Saturday at 21:52 and 23:28 BST. Had a great visual directly overhead for the full arc of the first pass. Pings and clicks on both passes, but no packet signals. Two short bursts of voice (at start and end) of second pass, but not long enough to ma...

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Just had a nice clear view of the ISS passing directly overhead with full Moon and orange disc of Mars nearby in the East. Not a pip on the scanner though.

First time I've had my bins and monocular out in ages! :)

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Happy New Year all. :)

One of my New Year's resolutions = to do more scanning this year!

Managed to catch two passes this morning 09:53 & 11:30 - nothing on the first pass, but very, very brief burst of packet on the second. Both passes quite short / low on the horizon.

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Hello,

Missed the first couple of passes today, but caught the 15:15 and 16:51 BST passes and got a couple of strong sustained bursts of packet on both occasions. Unfortunately will have to miss the last pass of the day.

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Haven't managed to do much scanning lately, but did get a brief burst of packet signal late on a pass last Friday. Was showing the scanner to a friend so it was a nice surprise as I was about to turn the scanner off!

All the best,

Tim

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Thought this might be of interest from yesterday's BBC News:

NASA > ISS Communications Failure: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21512322

Not had a chance to do much scanning myself the last few days.

All the best,

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Hello Dave and David

Happy New Year!

I've been listening to a quite few passes this week but not heard a peep sadly. Missed the 20:07 tonight as I was cooking!

All the best

Re: Sir Patrick Moore

I'm deeply saddened. I came on here deeply saddened for one specific reason, and now I leave greatly saddened for another more general (and altogether unexpected) reason as well. I appreciate that as a public internet forum operated by the SPA this board is open to a range of viewpoints, and in many...

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Hello folks! I've been travelling for work the last few weeks so no scanning for a while ... hoping to get back to it now I'm back in the UK. I read about Sarah Brightman too. Opera on the scanner that'll be a first! (by the by, she's huuuugely popular in Asia - especially Japan, so I'm not surprise...

Re: ISS voice transmissions

Well done, David and Dave. Didn't do so well here - suddenly thought to myself about midday-ish yesterday: "There was something I was going to do today ... now what was it?" ... then - D'oh! - it hit me as I saw the scanner sitting on the side. Life's a bit too busy or I'm a bit too forgetful at the...
