Re: The SUN - 21st November

Bob
Sorry I'm late responding but been off colour since posting my 21st Nov SUN. But thanks for your comments. I think I need a bit more rest before I'll even be trying to image the Sun again.
Best of luck from Cliff

The SUN - 21st November

I was away most of today. Got home late afternoon when the Sun was very low in the sky. In fact I think it was then already too low to observe downstairs but I observe/image from our W facing back bedroom window ( nice & warm too). Got the odd (ODD) a) Sun. tree tops and lamp-post. b) Sun with f...

Re: The SUN 4th November

Brian Thanks - I do agree that Solar Prominences generally do seem to look better when seen in RED. However, when I got my Buz & Wuz very reasonably priced Opticstar PL-131m (m standing for monochrome of course), I decided not to "colour tint my images a) I thought cheating a bit b) me a lo...

Re: The SUN 4th November

Jeff & Brian Sorry to be late responding& showing interest - I've not been on the website for quite a few days. The skies havenot been very good & I' been trying to catch up with other things. I think Brian is probably right. So thanks Brian - I did think it was a filament myself but mad...

The SUN 4th November

Dear All Very nice today, from what I gather from other reports, when imaging the Sun I did not capture as much Sunspot information detail as might have been possible. Three images (one in White Light showing Sunspots, second in Hydrogen Alpha showing Sun disk detail, third also in Ha showing Promin...

Re: The Sun Today

Bob & Skybrowser You have both done very well counting Sunspots the last few days. I've briefly visually observed & imaged the Sun the last few days & found two Sunspot groups but yesterday(3rd Nov) I imaged - A) just one impressive Sunspot with penumbra making up the Easterly Group. B) ...

Re: Aurora - 30 October

BRIAN - Thanks for desplaying a delightful dozen images of Aurora images. I think I saw half a dozen Aurora over the years, but I haven't seen any aurora for quite a long time now. These days I go to bed a bit too early, even if one occurred down here. The only day time phenomena I see regularly now...

The SUN - 29th October

Quite miserable for several days. Quite a rainy morning continuing into afternoon. Then suddenly quite a big area of blue sky. I got three short video clips of the Sun in White Light using my Opticstar PL-131m camera on 88mm William Optics refractor through our W facing back bedroom window - providi...

SORRY - it may be just entirely my fault. Whatever, I do not seem to be able to get into "Observing" satisfactorily. I have problems finding recent posts.

The Sun - 11th October

Yesterday's SUN in White Light & Hydrogen Apha. Both taken using a Buz&Wuz video camera the Ha image being tinted red using Paint Shop Pro software. The Sun's rather tiny looking "Eiffel Tower" is probably a bit taller than our earth's actual diameter.
