I suggest reading Brian Greenes: Fabric of the Cosmos or Elegant Universe. That might help a bit. The explanation of hyper inflation and the mass required for the whole universe was awesome.

You learn over the years. I would recommend buying a book about general astronomy and read that. Something about our solar system as well as the universe (galaxies). I think I saw a fireball this morning at approximately 04:10-15. Unfortunately I just caught the tail end of it out of the corner of my eye. There was a definite smokey like trail that quickly dispersed (similar to a jet trail). I'm based in Hulland Ward (Derbyshire). I would say the trail I observe...
