Re: NGC 2895 SIZE 4.6' X 4.1'
Hi Peter, Great image and a small fov as well. I have something of a fascination with hunting down 'ringed' galaxies. There aren't that many large bright ones to be found but ngc 2895 is a most interesting example. It is classified SB(r), an inner ringed barred lenticular galaxy - quite a rare beast...

Cliff, I always enjoy your encouraging and thought provoking comments, as I'm sure many others here do as well and long may they continue.
All the best,
David.

Re: ngc 5859/57 - close pair in Bootes
Dear Brian and Cliff, Thank you both for your kind comments. The size of the stars indicates the seeing was not great but we often get less than ideal skies down on the coast and I am convinced it is getting worse. Whether that is due to light pollution or air pollution I do not know but I do know t...

ngc 5859/57 - close pair in Bootes
Despite their close appearance in the sky, NGC 5857 and NGC 5859 are actually a pair of apparently non-interacting galaxies. Their redshift, both at 0.0159, indicate they are close neighbours at a distance of around 220MLy. NGC 5859 is classified as a barred spiral, SBbc. This a bit odd as it is dif...
Re: ngc 5676
That's a very fine image Peter, especially with the moon lighting things up.

Re: NGC
Some very fine images there Peter.
I particularly like ngc 5383 which shows some fine detail and a lovely barred spiral.

Re: Arp 42 - ngc 5829 and Hickson 73
Thanks Brian. Not sure I can see a bridge either but not quite sure I can't!
Maybe a better image would resolve the issue.

Hi Robin,
I totally agree with the 2 Brians' comments.
A lovely image, beautifully framed and also showing some interesting science.
Thanks for sharing,
All the best,
David.

Have to say Cliff, that you have done a grand job just finding this little guy. Excellent job.

Dear Cliff,
Thank you very much for your kind comments re M57.
A truly enigmatic deep sky target.
All very best wishes,

Arp 42 - ngc 5829 and Hickson 73
Certainly not the most impressive of images but one which may hold some interest to galactic interaction imagers. Imaging is not always about taking a 'pretty picture' but often to finding out as much as we can about the objects we image. I'm quite happy to consider somewhat unorthodox theories if t...

Re: M57 - the 'Ring' Nebula
Thank you Brian for your comments on the 'Ring'.
It is indeed an amazing alignment that allows us to see the nebula as a ring.
I must admit that I have never been able to understand how planetary nebula can have such a variety of shapes but it makes for some amazing images.
All best
David.

M57 - the 'Ring' Nebula
Here is the famous 'Ring' Nebula in Lyra. Although it was early in the season and the 'Ring' was quite low, the night was cold and clear and the data quite good. I accumulated over 3 hours data, which is a lot for me! Here's the result, which shows good detail in the 'Ring' at the expense of the lit...

Hi Peter,
A very fine image of a splendid galaxy cluster.
I think the image rescaling works fine, too.
All very best,
David.
