Yes, the temp according to my car was 3 degrees but it felt much lower. I am also thinking of waiting until Saturn is up earlier before my next outing but you never know.

Hi Thanks for your replies. I went out last night. A few miles down the coast and found a place which is quite open but was able to set up next to a bush which was about 5-6 ft tall to get a but of shelter. The wind speed was about 14 or 15 mph. We had beautiful clear skies. I was able to observe Ju...

Looking forward to tomorrow night it should drop to a...

Webcam advice

Hi I have a canon eos450 but am looking to buy a webcam to add to my astrophotography arsenal. I have read up a fair bit on how to use them but I am unsure on which to buy. Hi all By complete chance, 2 of my friends went to the strangers gallery in parliament in London very recently. Not specifically to see this but it just so happened that the debate the witnessed was daylight savings. My friends have little interest in astronomy. They said that there was talk about S...

Which nebula?

Hi everyone, When I first started getting seriously into astronomy, I read somewhere about a nebula that was 4000 LY from one side to the other and that by an amazing coincidence it was also 4000 LY from Earth. Since reading this, I have always had it in my head that this was the amazing Orion Nebul...

Eddie, thanks for that. Had no idea that existed. It looks really good and I'll keep an eye out. David, thanks for the heads up. I've asked the seller for some info. Does anyone have any opinion on whether it would be worth upgrading to the goto system eq3 Synscan or not? This is what I was looking ...

Hi

Do you know if these are the same motors as the ones you get for the eq3-2 mount ? I have these but have broken the 2 motors and am either looking to replace the motors but may upgrade to a goto system.

Thanks
David

New mount or new motors?

Hi everyone Been quite some time since my last post and indeed since I've been out with my scope. Life has got in the way of fun recently but time for that to change. I was back out last weekend and got some marvellous views of Jupiiter and it's moons. Enough to reinvigorate anyone's interest I thin...

Travelling at speed of light

Hi Please could someone give me an explanation on something. I heard someone saying on TV 'If you were in a space ship, travelling away from earth at the speed of light for one minute, one minute of your time would of course have passed. On earth however, 4 years would have passed in that same singl...

Did anyone watch Impact?

Hi everyone. We just finished watching the TV programme Impact and just wondered what everyone thought of it, with regards to both entertainment value and also scientific accuracy. I thought it was good but not sure about the scientific accuracy. Would that stuff really happen? Let me know what you ...
