Re: Observation Report Comet Iwamoto C/2018 Y1
This evening the comet obviously was more difficult, seems much fainter. But again with the 1.5° (40x) eyepiece both M36 and Iwamoto, and only a short move to get both M38 and Iwamoto.

Re: Observation Report Comet Iwamoto C/2018 Y1
I also observed him several times till now. These days he still looks giant, and he comes now into rich areas of Auriga. He will get close to M36 and M38, try it the following evenings.

Re: Double, double toil and trouble
"the Double Double’s Double"
There's also such a marvelous double-double not far from the Pleiades, 4° NW of it. Drive your scope roughly to RA 3h 31m and Dec. +27° 39'. Give it a go.

Re: Geminids 2017
I only had a clear sky 13/14 Dec, started 20h UT, only for 1.25 hour, still a low radiant, but 27 geminids seen (with 2 bright). The evening 14/15 again went for an hour, but so few seen, the activity obviously was rapidly down.

Re: Florence is coming close
Last night (had to wait till midnight for a clear sky), I had my first success. Towards the Aquila area, the Moon didn't disturb much. Florence found 1 degree South of a double star, and comparing with six fainter stars nearby, the movement was remarkable within 10 minutes. At 40x with a 1.5° view.

Re: Interesting New Comet
Right!
Named ASASSN1, official name C/2017 O1.
Some estimates worldwide give 10.0-10.5, it is now a real morning comet, before the twilight still low, now 25 degrees, but climbing! In October reaching zenith (!) and probably mag. 8.

Re: Search for Comet C/2017 E4 Lovejoy
you got him mike! he looks indeed like a globular, he is small, round, and nicely condensed. My first observation I doubt the same if it is not a globular.

Re: Comet Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak 41P
Nice stories here. :D . My last observation of 41P was Friday evening, with the reflector at 40x was a faint disk visible, but obviously a huge disk, and nicely round, so the expected view of a comet coming so close to Earth. I estimated it 8.3, but it must be easier for smaller instruments, where i...

Re: Looking out for Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos- Pajdusakova
I will also looking to see a number of other comets including Comet 2P(Encke) (which I have never seen! , C/2016U1 (Neowise) and later C/2015 V2 (Johnson) and Comet 41P (Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak)...and what about C/2015 ER61? C/2016 U1 Neowise : too late for that, it's too low now and doesn't return...
