Hi If you're looking to keep it simple, then don't bother with the NexStar software. You will be able to do everything you want using just the handset. When you power it up and choose an alignment method, it should lock on to a GPS signal to get the date, time and location. SkyAlign is the one to pi...

Hello Alistair Sorry i didn't respond to this sooner. I don't think i can give an accurate start and end point for this fireball. That region of my sky suffers from a fair bit of light pollution, so I didn't have a lot of stars to locate it against. All I can say is that I did see the start and end ...

Hello David Thanks for that - I'm glad I (probably) didn't get fooled by a firework! Those times seem to correspond pretty closely to my guess. I was talking to my wife at the time, who then went in and said it was 10:30pm, so a couple of minutes before sounds about right. I'm not very good with col...

Did I see a fireball?
I was out observing from my back garden on Saturday (15/9/2007) night, and saw something dramatic at around 22:30 BST. It was a fast-ish moving streak of what I can only describe as fire (ie it had width, not a bright satellite or ordinary meteor, and was noticeably yellow), that covered about 15 or...

Sounds like you know more about the area than me, so perhaps I'm not the best person to help! I'm not exactly sure where the big brick thing is. i tried to find it with Google Maps, but can't make it out, unless its the wall of one the huge houses on the edge of the wood. To describe, leave Golders ...

Hi I doubt you'll find anywhere dark near where you are, but I would guess that Hampstead would be as good as it gets. There's a small observatory near White Stones Pond - I can't remember if the grounds get locked at night, but they might be amenable to you setting up near them. And does the heath ...
